Out in the community
Village squares, markets, cafés and neighbourhoods: philosophy meets everyday life and reaches people who wouldn’t naturally walk through the door of a lecture hall.

A SIMPLE IDEA
The Philomobile goes looking for philosophical ideas in unexpected places.
It creates the conditions for a dialogue where everyone can put forward an idea, learn to state it clearly, and agree to examine it with others. The point isn’t to confirm what we already think, but to gain some distance from our own ideas.
No particular knowledge is required. The practice starts with what each person thinks, says and feels.
MEETING PEOPLE
The format changes from place to place, but the same rigour applies everywhere: listen, question, and put your thinking to the test.
Village squares, markets, cafés and neighbourhoods: philosophy meets everyday life and reaches people who wouldn’t naturally walk through the door of a lecture hall.
Schools, prisons, associations and businesses: each engagement is designed around the place, the audience and the questions that arise there.
The Philomobile travels across France and beyond, sparking encounters and opening up spaces for dialogue.

QUESTIONS ALONG THE WAY
The dialogue can start from participants’ own ideas, philosophical texts, fables or tales from different traditions.
